001 — the right

You have the right to remain silent.
Somebody has been reading it anyway.

The Fifth Amendment does not say stay quiet and hope. It says you cannot be made to hand over the case against yourself. It is the oldest instruction in the building: say nothing, and nothing said can be turned around on you.

Then everything moved onto a phone. A call is a record. A message is a record. A file you sent your own lawyer is a record sitting on a company's server, one subpoena from being read aloud to a room. The right survived. The silence did not.

LP Secure is a private line for people in the middle of a federal case, and for the families carrying it with them. Calls, messages and files that we cannot read — not "would not", cannot.

The words are sealed on your device before they leave it. What reaches our server is an envelope with no way in. If someone demands our records, what we are able to hand over is the shape of a conversation and none of its contents. That is the point. A promise can be broken; a thing we never held cannot be produced.
